Clarisse Hahn

"Los Desnudos is a group of 400 Mexican peasants who were driven off their land by the government. They have been demanding justice for years, but nobody pays any attention to them, as if they didn't exist. So they thought of a new form of struggle, to put an end to this indifference: they will demonstrate completely naked in the streets of Mexico City, twice a day, until they win their case. Los Desnudos evokes the image of the colonised body and its reappropriation by the indigenous subject and is one of the three films in the series Our Body is a Weapon, which brings together individuals who affirm the body as a site of political and social resistance. The screening of this video at the Frac as part of the Grand Arles Express will extend the personal exhibition devoted to Clarisse Hahn by the Rencontres d'Arles this summer 2021.
11 June - 19 September
