Luma Rencontres

Since 2015, the Rencontres d'Arles have offered a prize to help publish a book design. With a production budget of 25,000 euros, this prize is open to any photographer and emerging artist using photography, upon proposal of a book model that has never been published. Particular attention is paid to experimental and innovative editorial forms. In 2020, the Dummy Book Award went to Yto Barrada and Bettina for Bettina. In 2019, it was Chow & Lin for The Poverty Line (see p. 32). In 2018, Marina Gadonneix received the award for Phenomena and a special mention went to Indré Urbonaité for State of Shame. In 2017,
the prize was awarded to Olga Kravets, Maria Morina, Oksana Yushko and Anna Shpakova for Grozny, Nine Cities. Last year, 194 books from 34 countries were received. The 2021 winner will be announced during the opening week.
